好的情歌，在於文字簡單、情感濃郁、邏輯清楚，即使不用唱的，說出來也一樣文字相稱，音韻悅耳，對方一聽就懂，並為之神魂顛倒。在情人節這一天，不妨用英文來表達你的感情，也許你會發現，其實英文比中文更好用。所選兩首情歌，都具備上述優點，第一首很平白(straightforward)，比較適合學理工的人。第二首有很多比喻性用法(figurative usage)，如乘風駕雲等，學文及藝術的人更能體會。
Endless Love「無盡的愛」(by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie)
根據告示牌(Billboard)音樂網站調查，這首歌為50年來十大情歌之首，為什麼此歌有此殊榮？因為文字朗朗上口，情感強烈，而且分成很多小段，隨便拿一段來說唱就足夠。它屬於愛昏頭的囈語類，熱戀中的男女做此呢喃，再恰當不過。兩位歌手皆是黑人，有其靈魂式的唱腔，所以別人改唱的版本(cover song) 很少能與之匹敵。

If You Go Away「如果你離開」
當愛的囈語說完後，現實介入，濃情蜜意不可能持久不變，當一方有些情意不堅時，另一方苦苦挽留，心情苦澀，在情人節這一天，不如對情意不堅的一方做下列表白。
這首歌原是法文，用法、德、英文演唱的歌星不知凡幾，可說是世界性經典。從50年代的法蘭克辛那屈(Frank Sinatra)，80年代的芭芭拉史翠珊(Barbra Streisand)，到2000年代的瑪丹娜(Madonna)都唱過。。此歌旋律優雅，歌詞美如詩，用到太陽，風、雨、雲等大自然元素，尤其情感表現幅度要很大才夠味。各種天王、天后版本中，拉丁歌王胡立歐(Julio Inglesias)的版本特別值得欣賞。
中國、台灣各選秀歌手如能選唱此歌，光是蕩氣迴腸的歌詞力量就足令全場轟動，而且年紀稍大的評審如哈林，小蟲一定會說「歌選得好」。
