TOEIC 測驗的第四部份有十個題組的簡短獨白，每個題組都設有三個詢問獨白內容的問題，這一大題的特色是：

第四部份的獨白內容及主題非常多樣化，從生活娛樂、媒體到與職場相關的主題都會出現。考生可以利用題組的空檔時間，快速瀏覽題目及選項，推敲獨白的主題，接下來聽音檔時，比較能針對問題找出答案，主題可大致分為三大類：
一、公共廣播
這類的獨白主要是在公開場所播放的宣傳，用以提供大眾資訊，最常見的是在交通運輸情境中（如：飛機上、巴士站或機場）所聽到的訊息，另外常見的是在商店或運動場合所聽到的公共廣播。以下是公共廣播常出現的問題形式。
Where is the talk probably being given? 這段獨白可能在哪說出？
Where does the announcement probably take place? 這段廣播可能在哪發生？
What are the listeners requested to do? 聽眾被要求做什麼？
二、新聞、氣象及電台廣播
這類獨白跟我們在收音機或電視裡聽到的新聞播報很類似，而詢問的問題大部份跟報導的細節有關，要比較專心聆聽。以下是新聞、氣象及電台廣播常出現的問題形式。
What kind of weather is predicted for the weekend? 這週末的天氣預測為何？
What does the announcer recommend that the listeners do? 廣播者推薦聽眾做什麼？
三、商業訊息及談話
這類獨白與電視及電台中聽到的廣告很類似，目的在向聽眾推銷商品或服務。這類問題大部份會詢問推銷商品的種類、哪一類人會對這商品（服務）有興趣，以及商品（服務）的價格。以下為商業訊息及談話常出現的問題形式。

Who most likely are the listeners? 聽眾最有可能是誰？
Who would be most interested in this talk? 誰對這段獨白最感興趣？
