當提到懷孕時，英文字裡有兩個字經常會出現在懷孕待產相關的事物中。 「pregnant / pregnancy」一般人可能比較熟悉，是指懷孕。感情戲裡男孩最怕女朋友說：我有些事情要跟你說…我懷孕了，「I have something to tell you…I am pregnant.」。 若覺得用「pregnant」太明顯，想低調含蓄一些，如中文的「…我有了」，可以說「I am expecting a baby. 」，要再古雅一些，可說「I am with child. 」接近中文的「我有孕在身。」
