耳屎的英文比較好聽，叫「耳蠟」，耳屎通常呈淡黃色，有點光滑，還防水，所以稱為「耳蠟」也不為過。
對於身體多出來無用的東西，最文明的稱呼為「discharge」，所以耳屎也可稱為「ear discharge」，鼻涕、鼻屎通稱為「nasal discharge」即可，若要追根究底，鼻涕為「mucus」（有禮貌）或「snot」（無禮貌，少用）、鼻屎為「boogers」，從單複數的用法，也可看出「snot」為液體，不可數，而「boogers」為固體，以複數型態出現。另外從口腔中吐出來的痰，英文為「phlegm」，這個怪字發音如下：「ph」為/f/，「g」不發音。
