An unexpected windstorm hit the south Puget Sound region early yesterday morning, knocking down power lines and causing blackouts in many parts of Greater King County. Winds of up to 40 miles per hour sent tree limbs flying into storefront windows throughout downtown Seattle, forcing many small business owners to close down as early as 11:00 a.m.
Possibly what was most upsetting was the extremely low voter turnout for the City Council election brought about by the hazardous weather conditions. City officials are debating whether to allow late absentee ballots due to the unprecedented election day storm. |
