豬肉是台灣飲食中最常使用也不可或缺的日常食材。豬肉到底多重要？據農委會統計，國人平均每人每年肉類消費高達 75.6 公斤，其中豬肉就高達 37 公斤，超過雞、牛、羊等其他肉品，榮登全台民眾最愛的食用肉品（the most consumed meat）。
然而從2020 年初的非洲豬瘟（African Swine Fever, ASF）到今（2021）年開放美國萊豬進口的政策等新聞，讓豬肉、畜雜等食安議題在台灣引起廣泛討論，甚至抗議遊行。因此這一次的專欄，我們就針對此議題精選相關英文例句，來學習相關單字用語。
The Tsai Ing-wen administration has been heavily criticized for its decision to open up Taiwan to imports of American pork containing ractopamine.
蔡英文政府開放含有萊克多巴胺的美國豬肉來台的決策一直以來受到強烈批評。
這裡的administration 是指政府人員， 視為整體，當成單數名詞。例如美國新上任的拜登政府正努力改善勞工的權益，英文就會說 「The Biden administration is working to advance the rights of working people」。
而萊克多巴胺是一種用來添加在飼料當中，用以助長豬隻長出瘦肉（lean meat）的添加劑（food additive），簡稱瘦肉精。
Ractopamine is the active compound in several products administered in-feed to pigs and other livestock. These products increase muscle growth rate and improve feed efficiency while reducing fat deposition.
萊克多巴胺是一種加在豬隻或其他家畜飼料裡的活性化合物。這種添加物可以加速肌肉生長速度、改進飼料效率，同時減少脂肪累積。A number of new regulations take effect starting January this year, one being the import of pork containing the controversial feed additive ractopamine. All businesses related must label the source of their meat products.
今年元旦開始有些新制上路，其中之一是開放含具爭議性的添加劑萊克多巴胺美豬進口，相關業者都要標示肉品原產地。Pork butchers are busily preparing the meat and labeling them as “Taiwan Pork” to prove that their meat products are truly domestically sourced.
豬肉業者忙著處理肉品，張貼「台灣豬」標示，證明這些肉品真的是國產。
因為新的豬肉進口規定，餐廳業者也面臨是否要調漲豬肉價格的兩難（price hike dilemma），許多業者紛紛主張店內使用的是國產豬肉，而非萊豬。
Taiwanese restaurants and hotel chains said they are under pressure to raise prices to reflect the expected higher cost of locally-produced pork amid health concerns about a new policy allowing pork imports containing a controversial livestock drug that came into effect on Jan.
因應今年元月份開放含爭議性的萊劑豬肉進口，而引起的健康考量話題，台灣餐廳與連鎖飯店業者表示他們有漲價的壓力，以反應使用國產豬肉，預期提高的成本。
而政府部門也提出從產地到餐桌的把關措施宣傳海報，現在就利用下圖「單字連連看」與「看圖配對」，來學習這些英文關鍵字。
